Help Red Mountain Makers Support the Birmingham Community

As we grow membership and makerspace size, we want to grow our impact on the community even more!
Who we are:
Red Mountain Makers is the Birmingham area's nonprofit makerspace! We are a 501(c)3, volunteer-run, membership-based workspace that provides affordable access to the tools, equipment, knowledge, and skills you need to create and make your ideas real. Our organization grew out of a small group recognizing Birmingham's need for a community makerspace. We started out via meetups in garages, but have now grown to an ~80 member organization with a 7800 square foot facility, hosting almost 200 classes per year. Despite our growth, we remain run almost entirely by volunteers and are committed to keeping our resources as accessible as possible.
What we do:
We are here for hobbyists , artists, tinkerers, DIY'ers, entrepreneurs, business owners, and anyone wanting to make their idea into something real! Our facility has a variety of equipment including 3D printers, laser cutters, soldering irons, wood and metal working tools, and sewing machines. Our members freely share their knowledge and skills, but we also host nearly 200 hands on classes each year taught by industry experts.
Why we need your help:
Our membership dues, studio rentals, and class fees provide just enough funds to pay our rent, keep our lights on, and compensate our professional instructors. All facility improvements, outreach events, and new equipment purchases are supported by volunteer labor, grants, and donations. Please consider making a donation to help increase our impact on the Birmingham Community! Your support helps us keep member fees low, and therefore more accessible. We plan to soon formalize scholarship programs for both memberships and classes.
We've been delighted to participate in many outreach programs in recent years including Summer Adventures In Learning, UAB Summer Institute, and UAB Workforce Development Program, which would not be possible without donations.
