Help Red Oak Food Co. outfit its new home!

Many of you may already know us as your favorite sourdough supplier, miso maker, salt seasoner, and fungi forager. For those who haven't met us, we are a husband-and-wife-owned small business located in the Adirondacks. Jordan was a chef for 15 years. Covid closed the restaurant he ran, so we used it as an opportunity and began our own business in 2020.
We've been in business for 3 years this April! That's pretty amazing, and we are beyond grateful for all we've accomplished in that time. But we can do more, and we're ready to put down roots.
Red Oak Food Co. has been given a beautiful opportunity to expand and settle into a permanent home. The Mill in Westport is carving out a space just for us! This Spring, we'll be moving in and getting it all set up.
What does this mean for us?
- We'll be able to produce MORE. That's right. More! We've been working in a small space and a shared kitchen, which has nurtured our business in its infancy but has also made it difficult for us to do many things we'd love to do.
- We'll have more opportunities to sell all of our products, including miso, salt, and pasta. Instead of waiting for a market to track us down, you can get our seasonings (and seasonal mushrooms) whenever they're available! We'll work on pre-orders for customers to pick up items right from The Mill.
- We'll be a part of a fantastic new venture, partnering with The Mill to bring diverse offerings to the area.
- We'll be able to learn more, add new offerings, and continue to grow. Like a seedling transplanted into the ground, this will give us the space we need to develop fully.
- With more space and time, we hope to get shipping options up and running. We've had lots of folks ask if we can send them our products when they go back home, but keeping up with our wholesale schedule in our current state has been all we can handle.
What do we need?
We will need to outfit our space with the proper equipment. We are hoping to get started soon after moving and will graciously accept any help in realizing that goal. Items such as three-bay sinks, prep tables, bread racks, and all the lovely paraphernalia that make our job possible would take us quite a while to collect on our own. So we're turning to the community that has already shown up for us countless times.
Our goal is big, but everything helps. If our goal isn't met, we will still do everything we can to have our space ready for you by this Summer!
