The Langley Aerodrome Experience
The Langley Aerodrome Experience is the cornerstone of the Langley Flight Foundation's mission to educate the public on Virginia's rich aviation history, to encourage students to pursue STEM education and aviation-based careers, and to help attract new aviation-based employers and technology to Virginia and the Stafford County region.
The Aerodrome Experience will feature an exact reproduction of Samuel Pierpont Langley's Aerodrome No. 5, the world's first heavier-than-air powered aircraft in human history, and interactive kiosks explaining the scientific process through which mankind conquered the “most remarkable mechanical mystery of the age” RIGHT HERE, in Stafford County, Virginia.
To date, the Foundation has raised $350,000 for the Aerodrome Experience through grants, corporate sponsorships, and private donations. The Experience will officially open to the public on May 11, 2024!
THE ASK
The Foundation has secured full funding for the aerodrome and the creating of the interpretive programming. This grassroots fundraiser aims to raise the final $25,000 for the purchase of the digital interactive kiosks and monitor, and interior wall decor. 100% of the proceeds will be used for these components. The Foundation is an all-volunteer, unpaid organization.
