Red-Tailed Farm House Fire Recovery

Hi, I'm Juliann. I own and operate a small sustainable farm in southeastern North Carolina along with my husband Darrell and our friend/business partner Greg. We all live frugally together in our old farmhouse, producing much of our own food and working together daily on the farm. As small farmers trying to get our fledgling business off the ground we all work really hard but still struggle to make ends meet, as we put all our resources into providing the very best care for our animals, which include goats, sheep, pigs, rabbits, chickens, ducks, dogs and one large orange barn cat.
This past weekend tragedy struck our family. The smoldering remains of a tiny fire contained inside a fire pit must have thrown an unfortunate ember, which ignited something on or near an RV parked next to our home. Within minutes the RV was engulfed in flames, and before the fire department could respond our home was set ablaze as well. The fire ripped though our entire attic, destroying much of our roof and ceiling. Luckily we were able to safely evacuate with our 3 dogs, and no other animals were harmed.
It is very important that we be present at our farm in order to properly watch over and care for all of our animals, and currently we are unable to live in the house. Until we can replace the roof, ceiling, walls, floors and wiring to the damaged portion of our home, we are effectively homeless and currently camping on the property. We estimate repairs will cost roughly $50K, and with neither insurance nor a significant income we feel like we have no choice but to reach out for help. As farmers of wholesome, ethically-raised products, we normally want to be the ones helping others, by nourishing them through our food. As much as we hate to ask, it would mean so much to us in this time of need if you could please help by donating whatever you can to get us back on our feet. Every little bit helps.
