Reed-Custer High School: Box City!
Donation protected
FCCLA, short for Family, Career and Community Leaders of America, is a co curricular organization that aims to help youth in public and private schools with family bonds, careers, and participation in the community.
On Friday October 15th despite the cold and wet weather, Reed-Custer’s FCCLA chapter will take part in a fundraiser called Box City. This event is to raise money and awareness for homelessness. The students and I will camp out for a night in a box in order to step outside of their own comfort zones and experience what it might be like to be homeless. In order for the student to participate, they have to raise a $10 minimum “rent” fee.
Students are currently working on raising the money by going to family and friends explaining the cause and asking for donations. In addition to sleeping out, the members will collect canned goods throughout the month of October. All donations, canned goods, and toiletries will be donated to the Braidwood Community Care Center.
Thank you in advance for your consideration in this wonderful event. The students truly enjoy it and learn the value in giving back!
