Help Reena, John, Brea, and Maddy After the Fire

Hi I am Blanca, Reena’s mom, and I want to help raise money for Reena, John, Brea, and Maddy.

On March 24, Reena and John’s home caught fire. John’s quick thinking saved Reena’s life as he woke her up and got her out of the house that was quickly filling with smoke. He went back in to rescue the dogs but the smoke had gotten too thick to go back upstairs and John has to escape to the backyard. Thank God a million times that the kids weren’t home. Reena and John are both ok, very shell shocked but ok.

The firefighters were quick to action and went in to save the dogs. One of their dogs passed in the incident, and the other two are in need of check ups due to the smoke inhalation.

Whatever personal belongings didn’t burn in the fire are likely ruined because of the smoke. They are staying in a hotel for now as they wait for insurance to handle things, but they don’t have much right now. Running out of the burning house in the middle of the night, Reena called me in tears from her pajamas wrapped in a Red Cross blanket.

As you may know, their house flooded in December 2023 due to the rainstorms, ruining their Christmas, and John was in a car accident with a city bus in February 2024 totaling their vehicle, so they have had a crummy run of bad luck the past few months.

Those that know them know that these guys have the biggest hearts and would give a stranger the shirts off their backs if they needed it. Reena has touched countless lives as a nurse, John has made sure that people in these situations are taken care of as an insurance agent, and Brea and Maddy are just the sweetest kids.

Please help me help them find hope that everything will be ok. They are right in the thick of things and it’s hard to see the light at the end of the tunnel when you’re just starting.
