Re-entry Support for Nicholas Davis

Hello to all! My name is Nicholas, I am a 37 year old cis-man. I am currently incarcerated in the State of Oregon's Department of Corrections. I am just about to finish a ten year sentence for armed robbery and am reaching out to all of you for help.

I am posting this because I have very few resources on that side of the fence and I am trying to meet and network with people in the community. In January 2023 I will be parolling to Portland, Oregon, and I hope to get involved with a positive group of people out there. I am particularly interested in getting involved with AA/NA groups, volunteer work with groups that have provided me with support over the years, and other clubs and outreach groups trying for prison reform and education.

While in prison I have accomplished quite a bit with the resources I did have. I am over ten years clean and sober from drugs. I have completed nearly 100 credits towards a degree in business, and I have taken classes towards personal growth that are offered here. Right now I am in the process of renewing my FAFSA grant to complete school. I am hoping this GoFundMe will help me raise the funds I need to get on my feet, enroll in school, renew my driver's license, get clothing, and pay my living expenses until I can begin working. Any money donated will help me begin a new life.

Prison has been an interesting and definitely life changing experience. I have been around some horrific things and been shipped between several of the prisons in Oregon. I spent a year in solitary confinement, I caught COVID a couple of times, but the thing that had the greatest impact on me was meeting and seeing so many people caught in the revolving door of recidivism. Getting out to no one and nothing, then coming right back just a few months later. I am trying desperately to not be one of those statistics.
