My Daddy Needs A Transplant

Donation protected
Dec 11, 2014 my dad, Ronald Reese, was diagnosed with end stage liver failure due to non alcoholic fatty liver.  He has gone through the process to get on the transplant list at Piedmont Transplant Institute in Atlanta, Georgia. He will be needing a liver very soon.

My dad is 48 and he proudly served in the military for 27 years with an honorable discharge. Although he does have medical insurance, he still has copays to make.  He also has travel and lodging expenses going from Savannah to Atlanta for his treatment and surgery. Once he is dismissed from the hospital he will also have lodging expenses for the first 4 weeks in Atlanta.

My parents have their mortgage and bills to pay even though my step mom won't be able to work to make any income during this time. She has missed a lot of work already to care for daddy and take him to appointments.  It's been difficult for them.  If all goes as expected they will be away from home for about 6 weeks total for the surgery.

My daddy has already been through so much in his life.  In 2004 he was diagnosed with chronic pancreatitis due to a gallstone coming out and getting stuck in his pancreatic duct and causing the pancreas to start digesting itself.  This happened when he was overseas for the military.  He was medically discharged from the military in 2010.  In 2008 I was diagnosed with Chiari Malformation and I had to have brain surgery in 2009 at the age of 14.  We are still dealing with medical issues due to this.  In 2012 he lost his son (my big brother).  He is handling things well, but I want to ask your help for financial assistance during this difficult time for him and my family.

Stress makes my daddy's pain worse.  All this added stress has been so hard on him.  Please help him, it would help his health not to have to stress over bills and paying the mortgage while he and my stepmom and I are in Atlanta for 6 weeks. He is totally stressed over having to pay all of our regular bills plus pay for another place to stay at the same time for 6 weeks and my stepmom not being able to bring in income to help for those 6 weeks. It's been so hard and my daddy is so sick. Please help my daddy to have less pain.  It would help all of us more than you could ever imagine.

If, for some reason, my daddy doesn't make it through this transplant surgery he wants any unused portion of this money to go to The Wounded Warrior Project and to other transplant patients needing assistance.

Thank you,

Holli Reese
