Help Tulsa’s First Women-Owned Radio Station Buy New Equipment
We are thrilled to announce the launch of a groundbreaking project in the heart of Greenwood District, aka the Original Black Wall Street – The Greenwood Beat: WFPG. I’m Angela K. Chambers, the CEO and owner of the first woman-owned radio station in the entire Tulsa.
Who Are We?
I’m Angela K. Chambers, a serial entrepreneur, community activist, and author. I’ve previously served as the First Vice President of the NAACP Tulsa branch. Moreover, I’m the co-founder of the Oklahoma Black-Owned Business Network and have been hosting the radio show “Refocused & Informed Radio Talk Show” since January 2022.
I laid the foundation of this community radio station with my partner and COO of the Greenwood Beat, Francetta L. Mays resigned publicly on Facebook.
Today, I continue to strive to give a much-needed voice to the people of Tulsa and make a positive impact on the community. Now, I still need your support to bring our vision to life. Therefore, I have reduce the ask, as I was able to purchase some of the needed equipment.
I am working to break barriers and attract advertisers, sponsors and more supporters of The Greenwood Beat - WFPG.
Why We Needed to Launch a Fundraising Campaign
I created this station to honor the legacy of my Grandma “Tee” Wilma Factory Phifer Green who was a prominent community member of McAlester, Oklahoma, and played a big role in the lives of her family and community members.
With this radio station, we are breaking barriers and giving a voice to our community. So, we will focus on talking about the problems and challenges people face in day-to-day lives and bringing attention to find solutions that can raise the standard of living. With your support, we can build a platform to unite the community.
Further, I believe in the power of grassroots support to drive economic growth in the community. Thus, I will promote local-owned small businesses through our radio programming and are arranging events where they can showcase their products and services to attract potential customers. By donating to our campaign, you can contribute to our mission of promoting local businesses in Tulsa.
The Greenwood Beat radio station is dedicated to giving back to the community that supports us and we envision this platform as a catalyst for positive change in Greenwood. In the long run, we intend to expand our voice outside Oklahoma. With the help of your donations, WFPG can continue serving the community, address community issues, encourage dialogue, and inspire action toward a brighter future for all residents.
By contributing to our GoFundMe campaign, you will become a part of history and support underrepresented voices in the community.
How You Can Help
Every donation, regardless of the amount, counts. Your support will bring us closer to our goal of buying the equipment, increasing programming and attracting advertising customers needed to level up in year two of this urban radio station.
You can help us by contributing to our goal of $75K. Any amount will help and we will appreciate your donations. Your donations will directly go to the setup of our radio station and the purchase of necessary equipment for broadcasting.
Every dollar counts!
That being said, we know times are tough. So, you can also support us by spreading the word about the Greenwood Beat’s fundraising campaign and sharing it with your family, friends, and social network. We appreciate all your support!
If you are a business owner, you can also support our mission by becoming a corporate sponsor. We can discuss mutually beneficial partnerships that provide exposure to your brand while supporting our cause.
We Look Forward to Your Support
The Greenwood Beat: WFPG is the voice of the community. We officially launched station programming on June 8th, 2023. Aside from community-focused radio programs, we also arrange events for the community such as The Original Black Wall Street Merchant Marketplace to support small businesses. Furthermore, we cover local businesses and events that matter to the community.
With your support, we can enhance the quality of programming and local event coverage by purchasing the necessary equipment. You can assist us in amplifying community voice, supporting local business establishments, and uplifting the Greenwood community through your donations and support.
Together, let's empower the community, make a lasting impact, inspire change, and celebrate the rich history and heritage of Black Wall Street and Tulsa City. We look forward to your support.
Thank you for reading.
Sincerely,
Angela K. Chambers,
