Refraction: Angelique's Debut Album!
Donation protected
Instead of waiting to see the change I wanted to see around me, I decided to just do it and be a part of it myself! I dream of a time when the idea of "black artistry" in classical music isn't considered novel, unique, or out of the ordinary. My definition of black artistry is simple: art made by black people. With this, I want to created an album of solo cello works by black composers that showcase the range and versatility of black artistry. The album title- "Refraction"- represents the myriad of paths and directions black artistry radiates, and I hope you will hear that with this album project.
"Refraction" will feature works by Nathalie Joachim, Coleridge-Taylor Perkinson, and Tania Leon; with two commissioned works by Brian Raphael Nabors and Sophia Bass. The album cover will also be a commissioned art piece featuring a black visual artist!
Your donations will help cover costs for studio recording, commissions, post-production, licensing, and consultations. Essentially, your gift will contribute to the creation and promotion of black artistry. This fundraiser will end on March 1st, 2022. Thank you in advance for your support; I can't wait to share this with you all!
Here's a sneak peak of one of the pieces that will be on the album:
