In the town of Mandi (Wollega), when multitudes (from students with pen to priests holding their religious books) continued to march and chant their slogan of freedom, there is one visible brave young man out up in the air above the crowd. He is Fikadu Shumeta. His image represented the #OromoProtests and appeared on dozens of international Medias. He has energised fellow Oromos and other Ethiopians alike. Today, he is running for his life and has no one to help him in Egypt.
What do you call the one who raised his hands high and screamed into the microphone held by the enemy "Down Down Woyane" to oppose a government whilst a gun is pointed at from left right and central, back and front? A Hero! Indeed a Hero. Down Down Woyane has been a slogan for millions of Oromos and Ethiopians alike since the Irreecha Massacre in bishoftu on the 2nd of October 2016 where hundreds of lives were claimed by the guns of the TPLF led regime in Ethiopia. The man who chanted those words and empowered the over 2 million crowd in Bishoftu has escaped and safely arrived in Cairo. Gamada Wario is a young man who was forced to abandon his dream because he is an Oromo. Like Feyisa Lilesa who risked his life, family and career for the sake of his people and humanity, Gamada is another hero and speaks for the millions left behind and in Ethiopia and for the oppressed globally.
We are campaigning to support them financially to cover their temporary living costs in Cairo, organize their legal and resettlement details. Let us say "You are our heroes in actions but not just words." Our small donations can make a massive difference in the life of these brave young men, who helped the voice of our nation to be heard globally.
