Refugee Ball

A coalition of asylum lawyers, non-profit organizations, mental health professionals, and academics are hosting an Alternative Inaugural Ball for refugees, asylum seekers, their family members, and supporters. The Ball will be held on Tuesday, January 17, 2017 from 5 pm to 9 pm at Sixth & I Synagogue in Washington, DC. Tickets are required and you must be on the Guest List to attend.

The purpose of the ball is to demonstrate solidarity with our refugee and immigrant neighbors and to show them that they are not alone. We also want to educate the wider community on the positive aspects and contributions that refugees and immigrants make to our society. The event will feature food, music, and art by local refugee artists and businesspeople. Leading immigration attorneys in the area will also provide free legal services on immigration matters.

Donations will first go to covering the costs of the event, mainly food. This money will directly support local refugee-owned businesses. The remainder of the money will be divided equally between non-profit organizations dedicated to helping refugees locally and internationally. We will give an update with the list of organizations soon.
