Refugee Flag Kakuma

The LGBTQI Refugees in Kakuma Refugee Camp are in need of help. As cited in the recent coverage by BBC they are in dire circumstances, in need of documentation, medical assistance, and safety. They are suffering illness, unclean living conditions, malnutrition, and violence for being LGBTQI. The message below is from those in need. Please help as you are able.

"Kenya is no safe a place to live in by LGBTI's and all efforts should be made to solicit for more resettlement slots for them to third countries. Meanwhile, Refugee Flag Kenya is launching a Campaign to investigate the present situation in regard to proper treatment of LGBTI refugees in Camp Kakuma. Provisions are needed to gain proper documentation, a headcount, medical care, housing, safety, and to relieve the living conditions of the refugees in Kakuma and Kalobeyei. The situation we are in as LGBTI refugees and asylum seekers in Kakuma Refugee Camp is terrible, though UNHCR tries hard to hide this... They are discriminated, harassed, beaten and homophobes are now targeting to kill us... It is really, too SAD for words. Government officials of Kenya and UNHCR alike seem to be looking the other way. We need to be protected, and international awareness must be enhanced, so that appropriate action will be taken by UNHCR, their host, the Kenyan government, Human Rights Watch organizations, Amnesty International. These institutions have been duly informed and are aware of the abuses in Kakuma. Moses (our CEO) is spearheading the campaign by visiting Kakuma/Kalobeyei camp, for which this Fundraising has been created. This mission will therefore be aimed at the following spear points: to ensure that all refugees are registered and documented properly by RAS (Refugee Affairs Secretariat) bring the inadequate performance of UNHCR to carry out its mandated responsibility to their attention, including to ensure security for LGBTI refugees to ensure that our brothers and sisters living with HIV and AIDS in the Camp get medicines as required, including that they will get reasonable meals and nutritious supplements, since this is part and parcel of their medical treatment to insist on proper housing instead of sleeping out in the streets ascertain the exact number of the LGBTI refugees who were forcefully sent to Kakuma, and their condition. This number is estimated at 150, which excludes the ones who are still in hiding, or loitering in the rural area around Nairobi.
