Joe Baker of Refuge Nation is partnering with individuals, businesses, non-profit organizations, and churches to provide 500 inner city school aged students (ages 11-18) the opportunity to screen The Black Panther Movie on its opening weekend, Sunday February 17, 2018 at 3 PM.
We want this to happen without adding any financial burden to the students, their parents, or caregivers. We are paying the ticket price for the movie as well as coordinating mentors, chaperones, drivers, vans, and buses to pick up and drop off students. The funds collected will be used for these purposes.
The Black Panther movie was chosen for its intentional positive portrayal of people of color. We believe the virtuous representation can improve how these students view themselves, and serve to broaden and enhance how the students perceive their future.
The support means a great deal to me, personally; but, it will have an even greater and lasting impact on the students and families of the inner city communities. We cannot do this without you. No donation is too small. Join us as we take on the #BlackPantherChallenge!
