Regan Hereim Brain Tumor Surgery

Most of you now know that my 15-year-old nephew Regan Hereim was diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes earlier this year. They were finally getting that under control when they received more bad news. On November 28th, Regan started losing feeling in his face and hands. His parents rushed him to the Billings ER. There, they discovered he had a brain tumor and were immediately told he needed to be life-flighted to the Salt Lake City Children's Hospital. December 2nd, Regan underwent a 10-hour brain surgery where they removed a tumor the size of 2 eggs. Unfortunately, Regan was told he couldn’t play football ever again. However, they got some excellent news post-surgery and were told the tumor was benign, and they were able to remove the entire tumor, which was a huge answer to their prayers. If all went well, Regan would have about a two-week recovery and most likely could go home this week and be home in time for Christmas. Unfortunately, post-op has not been going very well, and they believe Regan is experiencing Posterior Fossa Syndrome. A syndrome that affects speech, movement, emotions and behavior. Although they are confident this will get better, it is still scary for a parent to see. They are now being told Regan will need to be in Salt Lake for possibly an additional 4-6 weeks for in-patient therapy. Scott and my sister Sherrise have great faith and have been rocks for Regan through this. We want to lessen the financial burden for them now that they will need to be in Salt Lake for an extended period. Please keep Regan, his two brothers, Jace and Kale, and his Mom and Dad in your prayers while he is recovering.
