Barichara Regeneration Fund

Donation protected
We are creating a fund for the regeneration of entire landscapes -- a prototype for bioregions all over the world and a gathering place for Earth Regenerators to train and practice the art and science of regenerative design.

This fund will enable us to create a network of forest reserves through a combination of acquiring land with our Colombian foundation, Sueños del Bosqueand helping local campesinos to protect and regenerate land that remains in their families. We envision 80% of the fund will be used for these land acquisitions and place-based projects. The other 20% will be used for support capacities in the form of programs and services offered to all who share the vision of creating a regenerative bioregional economy.

Those of you who have followed the meteoric rise of Earth Regenerators will know that what began as a small study group around The Design Pathway for Regenerating Earth has grown to more than 2300 members spread all over the planet. Together we are learning how to live regeneratively, support each other in difficult life transitions, and organize our efforts around the emergence of a network of bioregional learning centers.

Our fundraising goal is $500,000. We will deploy these funds into a network of local projects that were incubated and grown by local Colombian regenerative leaders. They will enable us to enact a territorial strategy for restoring native forest, safeguarding the local water supply, and making the transition away from extractive industries in agriculture, construction, real estate, and tourism.

Barichara is a national monument and major tourist attraction in Colombia. It has roughly 6000 residents and is ecologically connected with a network of small mountain villages of the northern Andes. It is the ancestral home of the Guane people who were driven to extinction by Conquistadors almost three hundred years ago. It may be helpful to think of the Barichara Regeneration Fund as an investment platform for honoring these ancestral territories by working to restore -- to the greatest extent possible -- the indigenous lifeways of a region that has archeological evidence for at least 13,000 years of human inhabitance.

Please help us create this vitally important platform of investment. We will use it to create land trusts, grow a network of nature reserves, keep the tropical dry forest ecosystem from going away, and establish a globally-oriented framework for regenerative design that functions as a living laboratory for education and practice.

Among our goals is to establish the Barichara Ecoversity for local education programs and Design Institute for Regenerating Earth to support the emergence of a global bioregional network of learning centers. All of this will become possible by establishing this fund.

Please help us make it real. The future of humanity is calling us to regenerate landscapes. Now is the time to get serious, roll up our sleeves, and get to work.
