Reggie's Emergency Hospital Visit

✨✨UPDATE: For some reason my updates are not uploading here. If you would like to see the videos, please check them out on Reggie’s Instagram. The link is at the end of his story below. Reggie got home from the hospital Thursday night. He is on strict rest for the next two weeks to see if we can get the inflammation in his back under control. We will follow up with neurology at Penn in about 2 to 3 weeks for his follow up.

Hi, my name is Reggie!! Right now I'm staying with all of my friends at Penn Veterinary Hospital in Philadelphia while they try to figure out why I feel so awful. Mom could really use some help getting me the care I need to feel better and get back to my day job, I'm a therapy dog!!! Why am I in the hospital? I hope you're ready for a story because I never do anything halfway.

After a great morning playing with all of my friends at the dog park, my leg started hurting. Mom took me to the vet that very same day because I had had ACL surgery on it a few years ago. I got X-rays done and we found out I have a broken kneecap! It wasn't too bad and I could still stumble home like a drunk sailor. Mom made me rest and my kitty sisters helped to keep a close eye on me. A couple of days later (July 14th) we went to the hospital and found out that my broken kneecap was an old injury, Mom still has no idea how I did that but says I'm very accident-prone. The nice doctors thought I strained a muscle in my hip and ordered strict rest for the next two weeks. Mom did EVERYTHING to try and make me comfortable and lots of friends came to carry me up the stairs since we live on the second floor. Unfortunately, I was still not feeling good and as of today (July 17th), I can't stand up or walk without crying in pain. Mom took me back to the hospital and the nice doctors are doing lots of tests (sedated physical exam, CT Scan, and MRI both with contrast) to figure out what's wrong. I'm also on some pretty good pain meds so I'm very comfortable and taking lots of snoozes and I'm going to stay with my new friends tonight so that I can be comfortable and monitored. Right now the doctors are thinking it looks like I have a ruptured disk that is pinching a nerve along with a degenerative disease. I will most likely have surgery tomorrow but it's not a common injury, because I need to be special, so they have to come up with a plan. I know Mom is very worried and just wants me to feel better before my 6th birthday at the end of the month.

I would love to get back to giving all of my love to everyone I meet. Mom said she would keep this page updated with my progress. If you want to see more cute pictures of me and my sisters check us out on Instagram.
