Regina Community Fridge (Dewdney Avenue)
Regina Community Fridge is a mutual aid space, aimed at addressing food equity in Regina, by helping those facing nutritional insecurity access free, fresh and healthy food 24/7. The fridge, freezer and pantry space will be located outdoors, in a weathering shed. It will be easy access for members of the community to drop off food and take food as needed- “take what you need, leave what you don’t.”
Food insecurity affects 1 in 11 households in Regina (via unitedwayregina.ca). With the COVID-19 pandemic, it is more important than ever for those in the Regina community to care for each other.
The goal for this fundraiser is to have the money to set up and maintain a clean, safe, stocked and accessible fridge, freezer and pantry space for those who need fresh food. Your donation will go towards: purchasing a fridge and freezer, pantry and weathering shed building materials, helping to purchase food and cleaning supplies as we need them, as well as any maintenance costs.
The Fridge now has a location in central Regina! It will be located at 3037 Dewdney avenue, outside of Regina Family Pharmacy! br />
If you are able to donate a fridge, freezer,or building supplies and skills to the cause, that would be extremely welcome.
