Regina Homeless Crisis

Updated July 5, 2023: Due to emerging priorities and an opportunity to begin housing intakes, this is a bittersweet, timely update.

On a go forward basis, new donations made from July 5th onward will be designated towards the phase 2 housing efforts. That means air mattresses, towels and basic bedding for new tenants in the Neighbors for Neighbors Housing Alliance.

Camp Hope was organized on no budget in 2021, and came together but by the grace of community. I was there since day one with others and a harrowing list of citizen organizers who rose to the challenge. There was no gofundme, but the situation was different the last time we faced it. Things have changed. Sadly, they are far worse. The substances are far more deadly. Ministry supports have collapsed. Workers are burnt out. The social safety net has failed. We — again — are our own last hope.

The Good Trouble Network can be etransferred for day to day Camp needs. They also can avoid the dreaded gofundme fees and surcharges!

We can receipt all expenditures to July 5 for camp. Going forward we have 9+ volunteers for the housing startup and will be busy organizing next steps! (Hopefully with a few roofs to show for it!)
