Regina's Journey: Surviving and Thriving

Hello! My name is Kelly Johnson, and I am raising money for my coworker and most importantly friend, Regina Dortch. Please read about her continuous , long journey of survival below.

This beautiful face is someone who has spent the last 5+ years fighting for her life. She survived being in a coma for 7 weeks, has been battling kidney disease, and is awaiting a kidney transplant as she is on that life-saving list. This beautiful face is also destined for so much more than that. She is a mother to three cherished boys, Patrick - 31, Marnell - 29, and VinShawn - 26; daughter-in-law Brionna - 25; and Regina is also soon to be a doting grandmother to a baby girl in mid-April. In addition to all of this, Regina also holds the title of daughter, sister (in a family of 15 siblings), relative, colleague, and beloved friend.

I am launching this GoFundMe as a request for help for her as she has already endured many medical procedures, has mounting medical bills, and will be out of work soon on leave because she has to have a dialysis machine installed to her body - directly to her heart, and with the good Lord willing and lots of prayers, a kidney will come to her sooner than later.

I work with Regina and she has since become a dear friend because to know her is to love her. She wears a smile every day and she does not complain. She loves to cook and shares the love with us by feeding us at work that don’t share her same skills in the kitchen. She takes excellent care of herself, and I know the Lord has plans for her because she looks amazing. Regina however, can hide her stress well, and behind her radiant smile is a fellow human being that needs our love and support as bills have mounted over the years and the continue to come. Any help you can provide to help take the financial stress and burden off of her during this battle is appreciated more than you know. Gratitude and love is sent to you!

Regina has upcoming good news as her first grandbaby is on the way in April, and her son is getting married. They live across the country, and she is unable to drive and sit in a car for that length of time due to her condition. She needs to fly, and I would like for us to help get her there so she can be cuddling her precious granddaughter as her youngest son walks down the aisle with the support of his two best men - his brothers - as he shares his special day celebrating his marriage to his beautiful bride.
