Rehab Team, Stroke Ward F, Morriston Hospital.

Hi my name is Alan. I have started a slow virtual walk of Hadrians Wall to raise money for the stroke rehabilitation team in Morriston Hospital. I had just turned 56 years old when my life changed in an instant. On the 31st October 2022 I had a stroke. I was blue lighted to the emergency department in Morriston Hospital where i was looked after for the first 12 hours. My blood pressure was sky high, my speech was temporarily slurred and for a few weeks fairly weak. My main concern was that I could not move my right side. It was no surprise that the first two days I was scared and emotional. Then I accepted my new starting point and worked with the amazing rehabilitation team. They helped motivate me and gave frequent positive feedback. On days I was low they were sensitive to my circumstances and I benefited from their sense of humour and wheelchair trips of the ward.
I want to say thankyou to the team. Your money will go towards training opportunities and new equipment to help their patients.
