So, my son and his girlfriend have been living in Thailand for the past three months expierencing life immersed in the culture of the beautiful country and really soaking it all in, when we saw this post on their instagram page....
"Hi all- this is Reiki. A stray puppy who was put into @mitchbartram & my care about 1 week ago. She was covered in fleas & the woman at her 'home' grabbed her by her tail & was holding her up by one arm. She put the puppy in my arms & said 'TAKE TAKE!!!"'
They didn't want the pup & as we could see she was being treated so horribly. So we took her, gave her multiple washes, fed her, swam in the ocean with her, took her everywhere we went & absolutely fell in love with her. She is barely 2 months old & the sweetest thing in the whole world.
She became fully our responsibility. We couldn't bare to leave her where we know she would be sleeping outside & not getting the most love possible as there are hundreds & hundreds of stray dogs on the island dying of malnutrition, getting beaten & poisoned. So we are flying her back to the US.
We have found a forever home for her with Amber Dubois' mother. The name may sound familiar to you. She started a search & rescue dog team in honor of her daughter & our little Reiki will be trained to do just that & have a family !

We will be raising money to help bring her back. There are many regulations, such as vaccines, puppy passport, the cost of food , flea & tick treatments, etc etc. So any help we can get is amazing !! If there are any animal lovers who have parents or friends who are also animal lovers please get this story to their ears & eyes & help ! Thank you ! Love & light !!! Well, needless to say they fell in love with her and want to rescue her and bring her back to the states to have her trained as a "search&rescue dog". This is where we all come in as fellow dog lovers....
Bringing a dog to the U.S. from a foreign country isn't an easy or inexpensive task as we are finding out very quickly...below is how the money will be allocated to ensure Reiki's safe and comfortable journey home where she will begin her life of helping resue other much like she is being rescued now.
Reiki will begin her trip back to the US by first taking a ferry & a bus to the airport in Koh Samui which is a bigger island than the one she is currently staying on.
Then she flies from Koh Samui to Bangkok. About a 1 hour flight. There she will be met by a puppy agent & she will stay at his house for 3 days & he will take care of her & make sure she is all ready to fly. From there if we can find a flight volunteer to fly back with her to the US then she will do that.
If we can't find a flight volunteer she will fly cargo. But we talked to a woman who facilitates all of the puppy exports to other countries from the island & she said cargo for dogs is really nice for international flight. That they have heated rooms for the dogs & that sometimes it's even nicer & more comfortable for the animals than traveling with a volunteer.
As we realize that there are many puppies that need saving here in the U.S. I'm sure we all understand when there is a connection and a bond created, all logic goes out the window and you must simply follow your heart and do what you know is right.
We're asking any dog lovers out there who feel connected with this story to please help, but either way, I'm personally committed to fullfilling any financial burden that may not be covered in this campaign, so Reiki will come to the U.S. and fullfill her destiny as a Search & Rescue Dog.
We need the funds ASAP as the process must begin so Mitch and Annabelle can get everything going prior to them returning to the U.S. themselves.
This is more than puppy love, this is destiny we feel and I'm confident that this will attract the right people who can make this happen fast.
