Re-Imagining Century Ballroom

Donation protected
Century Ballroom has been a cornerstone of the Seattle dance community for 28 years, led by Hallie Kuperman. We are lovers of dance, deeply embedded in these communities, and we want to continue her mission and protect the precious resource of this beautiful historic space.

We have officially signed the lease!!! We get keys April 1st and will begin renovations on one ballroom at a time.

Together we can truly do big, beautiful things.

Our Vision
We envision a vibrant, inclusive space where dance, performing arts, and community cross-pollinate. Our mission is to provide a lasting home for local creatives and ensure a place where all can share, learn, and celebrate—while building a financially resilient business.
While putting the arts at the forefront, we'll also host corporate events, private parties, and weddings. Our goal is to create a self-sustaining venue that pays living wages, offers accessible pricing and fosters excellence and collaboration for years to come.

Our Story
Starting a venue has been Eliza Wilder's dream for over five years, in which time she has been building out a business model and gathering market research. When we lost the venue for our monthly dance Revival Fusion in April 2024, several friends and investors stepped forward to help make this dream a reality. Originally planning to start a new venue from scratch, we have been searching for a space for 10 months. When Hallie announced she was closing, we were already primed and ready to go.

Century was the first place Eliza danced in Seattle when she moved here as a fresh-eyed college student and it holds a special place in all of our hearts. We plan on working closely with Hallie to manage this transition, ensuring as much continuity as possible and continuing to employ the majority of the staff.

How do you plan on using the money?
We are beyond grateful to have the support of several anchor investors. However, we're asking the community to help us with smaller one-time contributions to get the rest of the way to our goal, ensuring we have the best chance of succeeding. These funds will go towards the renovation and historic restoration of the Grand Ballroom and West Hall.

More ways to invest or contribute:
If you would like to invest or contribute in larger amounts, we would like to hear from you and talk to you one-on-one! Please let us know you're interested and we'll reach out with more information.

We are also in the process of setting up a fiscal sponsorship through a 501(c)(3) so we can receive tax-deductible donations. Please contact us through our website if you would like to contribute this way.

If you're not in a place to contribute monetarily, we will likely need other kinds of help along the way! Let us know what kinds of help you can provide and we'll reach out!

Thank you so much for being part of our journey, and helping us ensure we all have a beautiful place to dance and celebrate for many, many years to come!!
