Reimer Family Emergency Fund

Hi there, my name is Katie Barber and I am fundraising for the Reimer family, consisting of Josh Reimer, Jess Reimer, and their three children Emma (2.5 years old), Olivia (1.5 years old), and Aria (1 month old).

On Thursday, September 30th, 2021 we received the call that Jess and her 1 month old baby, Aria, had been in a serious car accident after colliding with a grain truck. Both Jess and Aria were transported to Victoria Hospital in London, ON in critical condition. Upon arrival to the hospital, it was found that Aria sustained a traumatic brain injury and was in critical but stable condition. Thankfully, after monitoring her cerebral contusions, the pediatric neurosurgeon cleared Aria to be discharged as of October 3rd, 2021.

Jess was immediately sent to the ICU where it was found that she suffered a severe traumatic brain injury and significant brain damage. She also broke her ankle, tibia, and femur, as well as her wrist. She is in critical and not yet stable condition and remains intubated. She is now being closely monitored in the critical care trauma centre (cctc) where she will be for some time.

Her husband, Josh, is a drywaller which is the main income and support for the family. As a physical labourer, this tragic accident has suddenly taken away his means to support his family. Josh has been by Jess' side since the accident and is relying on the help of family and friends to care for his girls. He will be in need of support to help cover his basic living costs and expenses related to Jess' stay and recovery (i.e. hotels, transportation/parking, food, etc,.). The family will also be in need of support should Jess be released from the hospital in the weeks to come. Her recovery will take several months (at least) and they will need help with transportation, childcare, living expenses, etc. All money raised will go directly to the Reimer family to supplement their lost income and to support Jess and Aria's long road to recovery.

Update: 

It is with profound sadness that we announce that Jess has succumbed to her injuries and passed on her 28th birthday, October 6, 2021. Jess was surrounded by the love of her family since the accident on Thursday, September 30th up until her passing. 

To know her was to love her, and she will be greatly missed by her husband Josh, her three girls Emma, Olivia, and Aria, her parents Paul and Vicki, her brother Darren, her best friend Katie, and all the people whose lives she touched. 

At this time, no funeral arrangements have been made and will be communicated at a later date. Jess’ family has collectively decided to keep the gofundme page open and increase the goal to support Josh and his girls. All money that continues to be raised will go directly to Josh and the girls to pay for basic living expenses, as well as funeral expenses. We cannot thank you all enough for the donations we have already received to support the Reimer family.
