Reinvigorating Lacey Jarrell's Memorial
Donation protected
The summer before our senior year the St. Gregory Class of 2007 lost its brightest star, our beloved Lacey. 13 years later, the memorial built on campus at the time hasn't aged well. At the current Gregory School, a project has proposed in collaboration between the Class of '07 and the school's current Roots and Shoots club a project to reinvigorate the memorial made for our beloved Lacey.
The area pictured in the photograph attached to this project is the future site of a new memorial that will act as a centerpiece for the club's new butterfly garden. To ensure that the new memorial acts as a fitting tribute for our love for Lacey and stands the test of time, we have commissioned professional mosaic artist Robin Riley to create a green star, drawing inspiration from stars drawn in Lacey's own hand.
We are trying to raise $3,000 to cover payment for the mosaic artist, the process of safely hanging it on the new wall, lots of new plants (plants are so expensive!) and related materials to begin beautifying the surrounding area (ultimately becoming a butterfly garden), irrigation, a new bench for the area, and additional longevity considerations like sun shades.
Class of '07 alum and current Gregory School English teacher Tim Milner will lead the organization of the funding, continue to work directly with the artist, continue to work with Nancy Jarrell every step of the way to ensure a mother's blessing on every aspect of the project, and work side by side with Roots and Shoots and other invested faculty members to see the development of the project through to completion.
