Campaign Elements 9 - Both Foul and Deep written by Daniel J. Bishop, is a campaign element to designed for 4-6 level 1-2 PCs, with the tools to help you create a rich campaign environment for PCs of any level.
Our Campaign Element series is designed for use with the Dungeon Crawl Classics Role-Playing Game by Goodman Games.
What Is a Campaign Element?
Any role-playing game session can take a left turn at Albuquerque, leaving the poor Game Master wondering what to do next. This is even truer for the dedicated Dungeon Crawl Classics judge, who discovers that patron quests, divine disapproval, and the requests of gods to pay back divine favor can make the game take incredible new turns with the roll of a few dice.
Add to this the advice urging players to “Quest For It” when they want something unusual for their characters, and you have a potent stew for gaming, but also a situation in which the judge may want a short adventure location with strong DCC elements and a minimum of preparation required.
Also, for various reasons sometimes only a few players were available for a night’s gaming. Each of these areas is short enough to be played through by most groups in only a single session. That doesn’t mean that the value of the area is limited to a single session – each adventure includes notes on “squeezing it dry”…effectively getting the maximum re-use of your investment.
What is in this Volume?
Appendix N literature is filled with cities, glorious or decaying. Beneath the streets of these urban centers lies a region dank, foul with the effluvia of countless generations, flowing through crumbling brickwork in the malodorous darkness. If your players are anything like mine, sooner or later they will wish to have their characters delve into these fetid morasses.
This product is intended to ensure that you are ready. To that end, a small area of sewers is described, with several hooks to entice PCs into investigating. Three appendixes supply added content to expand the original area or to create sewers of your own. The last appendix is an abbreviated patron write-up of Squallas, Mistress of the Night Soil Rivers, whose domain is the sewers.
What Are You Using the Funds For?
The Campaign Element line is our poorest selling line of Dungeon Crawl Classics support products. We would like to have more DCC players and Judges learn about this line. One way of doing that is to make it available as PWYW (pay-what-you-want/free). Releasing any product as PWYW is risky and I need to make sure that Purple Duck Games is solvent so that I can continue to develop more content for the roleplaying games we love, so I am looking to GoFundMe and your support to help cover our costs.
The product will be available in PDF (it is currently clocking in at over 40-6" x9" pages) in early December @Rpgnow. A low-cost print version will be available in early January @Rpgnow.
Costs for this project that need to be covered are:
- Writing costs - Daniel J. Bishop is paid for his writing plus he will receive half the royalties generated from PWYW.
- Maps/Art - A map and art have been commissioned for this project.
- Fees - There are a number of fees associated with GoFundMe that need to be paid.
When Do You Need the Money?
All of my costs except the fees associated with GoFundMe are payable now. Daniel has the text of the product and art orders have been placed to help bring the text to life.
With your help, we will be able to make this product more widely available to DCC players and Judges at little to no cost.
Thank you for your consideration and support.
