Relief and Rebuilding of Silverton Square

Donation protected
On the morning of October 5th, a fire destroyed Silverton Square, leaving the family without their business and home. Any support is appreciated. 100% of the proceeds will go to the family as they rebuild their livelihood and home. Please donate if you can and share this!

Here is the family’s story:

Once upon a time Ryan was the general manager of a hotel in Longmont, Colorado. His wife Sam was a stay at home mom to their perfectly amazing and severely autistic daughter Keira who requires round the clock care. In late 2019 Ryan left his job in order to return to his beloved profession. Unfortunately the timing was terrible. Covid hit and his dream job was no longer in the cards. Covid also eliminated the possibility of ANY job, so he was jobless and becoming hopeless. Meanwhile, his sister Allison, a single mother of two amazing children was working and thriving as a bookkeeper for a property management company. Then in mid 2020, Allison also lost her job. This provided the siblings with a unique opportunity to follow their dream and move back to the Colorado Mountains to provide a better life for their families.  They quickly went to work finishing the remodel on Allison’s house to get it ready for sale. From the beginning Ryan wanted to move to Silverton, but Allison insisted on researching every single possibility in the Western US. Finally the house sold in early 2021 and Ryan planned a trip to Silverton. They came to Silverton to check out the area since Allison had never been there but the minute they arrived in town, she was fully on board. They had a list of a few properties they were interested in looking at and amazingly the first one they looked at was the perfect one. The building, the price, the setting and the scenario were absolutely perfect. It provided them the opportunity to live and work in the building which was the only option they had due to limited funds. They took a chance along with every penny they had and purchased the building.  They moved into the building in June of 2021 and immediately went to work. Unfortunately they found it to require a lot more work than they were expecting but being the children of a second generation builder they had the experience to do nearly all of the work on their own. The repairs took a lot longer than anticipated as Allison was diagnosed with a life threatening autoimmune disease that required several months of chemo like treatments. In January of 2022 Allison was in remission and in February of 2022 Allison, Ryan, his wife Sam, their 3 kids, and 5 cats opened Silverton Square. The community of Silverton welcomed this new restaurant with open arms and many of them became loyal regulars.  Fast forward to October 2022, their business was thriving and they were looking forward to a much needed break when Allison’s autoimmune disease returned and then days later tragedy struck. At 3:30 in the morning on October 5th their building was engulfed in flames destroying their business, their homes, their hopes, their dreams and most tragically their beloved cat Waffles. Because of difficulties with obtaining insurance in Silveron in unique buildings such as theirs, they unfortunately had none and are left with 100’s of thousands of dollars in repairs they must make on their own. They are left devastated but hopeful. The wonderful, amazing community of Silverton has already rallied around the family to provide their immediate needs in a profound way that in their words “can never possibly be properly repaid”. They made a commitment to this community and hope and pray that they will be able to rebuild and reopen but unfortunately they can’t do it without help considering they lost their homes and their income in one fell swoop”.
