Relief Efforts for Emilia Romagna

We invite you to join Chef Pietro Mosconi and Monte's Trattoria, in his efforts to raise money for the relief efforts regarding the devastation caused by flooding in his native Emilia-Romagna region of Italy.

Fourteen people have lost their lives and more than 26,000 have been evacuated from their homes due to severe flooding in the Emilia-Romagna region. Twenty-three rivers burst their banks and more than 10,000 people have been evacuated from their homes. The heavy rains have also caused landslides in the nearby Apennines, more than 280 according to the region. Coldiretti, the Italian Farmers Association, reported more than 5,000 farms affected by the flooding.

The first floods hit on May 2 and 3 and then a second wave began on May 16, which is still ongoing — an exceptional combination of events.

Stefano Bonaccini, President of the Emilia-Romagna region, said billions of euro in investment will be necessary to recover from the tragedy.

“In 36 hours, six months’ worth of water fell onto the same ground that just two weeks ago endured [another] four months’ worth of water,” Bonaccini told SkyTG 24.

Now Monte's Trattoria is reacting, and our goal is to help those affected in Chef Pietro's beloved region. Chef Pietro has created a special menu featuring cuisine and wines from the region known for its pasta, luxury cars and medieval village. The money we are raising will be donated to the Italian Red Cross (Croce Rossa Italiana).
