Relief for a Gazan Family Facing Genocide

My name is Ahmed Mohamed Ali Salama, and I am a 43-year-old husband to Iman Ismail Abdel Rahman Al-Ghariz and father to three beautiful children (as pictured on the campaign page): Saba, who is four; Amir, who is three; and Mayan, who is just one and a half. My wife is currently six months pregnant, adding to our already heavy burden.

We live in the Gaza Strip, where we face the harsh reality of war and its devastating effects every single day. It is crucial that our voice reaches a world that seems not to hear us. Our home is now partially destroyed, forcing us to rent a house. We cannot afford basic necessities, leaving my children vulnerable to malnutrition. Clean drinking water is a luxury we cannot access; instead, we are forced to drink polluted water that poses grave health risks. Medical facilities are overwhelmed and teetering on the brink of collapse, leaving us without the most basic care. What breaks my heart the most is the fear my children live with. They cry out in terror at the sound of air raids, missiles, and explosions. My sweet, fragile three-year-old often collapses in tears, hiding in fear, suffering from the psychological trauma of living in this war zone.

To compound our struggles, I suffer from rheumatoid arthritis, a painful illness for which there is no treatment available in Gaza. I endure excruciating pain without any access to medications or pain relief. Though I have a medical referral for treatment outside the country, the ongoing closures and the challenges of navigating favouritism make it impossible for me to seek the care I desperately need. I urge anyone who can hear my story to understand what we are going through. Our children's future hangs in the balance, and we cannot continue to bear this tragedy alone. Please let our plight resonate and inspire action to alleviate our suffering.
