Relief for Cainen and his family after accident.

Hi, my name is Traci, and I have created this gofundme to help my sister Lisa with immediate, unexpected expenses that she is facing. Her son Cainen, 26 (my nephew), has had a devastating accident that has left doctors saying he will never walk again (but we are all praying for a miracle).

On January 13th, Lisa, who lives near Cedar Rapids, Iowa, received a call during work from Parkland hospital in Dallas, Texas. They told her that a passerby had found Cainen, underneath a 25-foot railroad bridge from which he had fallen. He was severely injured and in the ICU. Being the amazing mom that Lisa is, without hesitation, she left work and drove straight to Texas to be by his side.

Cainen has numerous injuries, but his severe spinal injuries have been one of the main focuses. His spine was severed with several other fractures. During a long surgery on January 17th, the neurology team attached 22 bolts and two long rods to his spine. After surgery, Lisa and Cainen were given the news that he would never be able to use his legs again (but we pray for a miracle).

Cainen also has a traumatic brain injury. He is understandably foggy and confused but is able to talk surprisingly coherent at times. He is able to recognize people, even in photos, and he definitely knows his momma. Cainen has a long road of healing ahead of him.

Lisa is strong, and I know she will sort this out in the future. We just want to buy her some time to be with her son and alleviate some of the stresses from missing work, bills piling up at home in Iowa, and the expense of traveling and staying in Texas.
