Relief for Darrel Johnson II

It all began in December 2017, our son Darrel, very energetic, was 6 years old at the time, started walking with a limp and experiencing some unbearable pains in his upper right thigh. We were advised to take Darrel to Nassau for observation.  We took him to Nassau, where we were basically told that Darrel had a strained muscle. Not seeming to heal we decided to take him back to Nassau where he was admitted to PMH twice and even his leg was casted for two (2) weeks to keep him off of his leg.
We were advised to seek further medical attention at Arnold Palmer Hospital for Children in Orlando, Florida.  The second opinion showed that Darrel has Perthes Disease also known as Legg Calve Disease, meaning that the blood supply to his hip joint isn’t flowing as it should, thus causing the bone to collapse.
The doctors advised us that in order for the problem to be corrected he has to go into surgery.  The surgery will consist of releasing the blood vessels in his upper right thigh, shaving the area of the bone that has collapsed to allow for the bone to heal and regrow, and lastly to reposition the ball in his right hip joint.
 
The surgery has been scheduled for April 15th, 2019.
The estimated cost of the surgery is $61,000.00.
