Relief for Earthquake in Morocco 2023
Donation protected
On September 8th, a powerful 6.8-magnitude earthquake struck Morocco, killing over 2500 people and leaving heavy property damage.
We started this initiative because it is paramount to channel collective support from the first day after a major disaster.
Your urgent help will provide the greatest chance for meaningful, and potentially life-saving, relief.
Please support us in reaching this goal.
We will be dispersing this money to recognized local organizations in Marrakech and the region, many of whom we have relationships extending 10+ years.
They will use the money for only the most pressing, unmet needs. For now, that means shelter: tents, blankets, pillows, mattresses, hygienic products, etc.
Please reach out with any questions/suggestions/etc.
We’d like to thank The Diamondback (the University of Maryland’s newspaper) for reaching out to us to cover this initiative in their recent story:
Your financial support will be directed towards local relief efforts organized by our partners at:
Les jeunes du futur
Association Chams Tensift
Association des Étudiants en Médecine de Marrakech (in coordination with CHU Marrakech)
100% of donations will go directly to relief efforts supporting the victims, families, and communities of the recent earthquake. As agreed to by the guidelines of GoFundMe, the funds are first deposited into my account and are subsequently wired to these organizations and/or their officers.
All remaining funds will be donated directly to the ‘Fonds spécial’ launched by the Moroccan government.
