Relief for families affected by Delhi riots and COVID-19
I am an individual who travels to and works in India and have witnessed firsthand the appalling conditions for many poor families. Due to the Delhi riots and the ensuing COVID-19 pandemic many of these poor have been overlooked and left to fend for themselves.
I have worked with Shafaqat of Barabanki and he was a hard worker, always going above and beyond what was required of him. However, after the riots, people in his workplace became openly hostile due to his faith. When the Indian government imposed the lockdown due to COVID-19, he was fired by his company and has not been paid for the days he worked. He had to commute almost 400 miles through walking and hitchhiking to make it back to his home village. As he was the sole breadwinner for his and his sister’s families they are currently in a difficult position. Any donations would help.
I am also trying to contact two other families who fled their homes following the riots. I lost contact with them after the lockdown was imposed but hopefully soon, I can get in touch with them again. They are in urgent need of rehoming due to living in a cramped home with 5 other families.
