6/10/2024 Update:
Katie & Chad will move into an apartment on Wednesday for at least the next 8-months while their home is being rebuilt.
Katie wrote, “We are still working through and learning what our new normal looks

like. Since all of our personal belongings were damaged and/or have been packed on a crate to be stored at a warehouse, we will need to rent furniture along with all the other necessities(shower curtains, utensils, vacuum, tv, etc). Our out of pocket expenses, such as the $399 apartment application, $600 non-refundable retainer for rental furnishings, $1300 to take down the tree in our front yard (I do not want to live within 30 yards of any trees and my PTSD of the storm shows up when the wind blows), etc have been afforded by your financial contributions. We are so grateful! We have a long road ahead.”

On Sunday afternoon, May 26, 2024, a terrible storm came through Louisville, KY and caused a huge tree to uproot and crash into my sister’s home and her husband’s truck. Thankfully, she & her husband and their 2 dogs weren’t injured, but they are traumatized. Their living room and both bathrooms are destroyed.
The insurance adjuster said the tree missed the house by less than 6 inches of taking out the entire structure. Their home owner’s insurance has a $2500 deductible and I want to help her not worry about money as much as possible.
Katie is my only sister and my best friend. She is the best aunt to my daughter and we are so grateful angels watched over her & her family.
Today Katie shared the struggle of finding temporary housing with a reporter from Wave 3. She is processing the emotional impact on a deeper level and hoping to find stability.
