Lily is 12 years old, and I knew her when she was still in her mama's belly.
Her mom (Heather) and I worked together at a boutique fitness facility in Denver for many years, and I will forever hear keynotes and words of wisdom ringing in my ears from this incredible, smart, intuitive, leader, and one of my closest friends. I am raising money for her beautiful, active, healthy child because this family needs answers, and Lily needs relief, NOW!
Today is September 19th, and 35 days ago, this healthy, strong, spunky 12yo woke up with severe pain in both hands. She had just gotten home from an extended vacation in upstate NY and the Jersey Shore. She had spent hours swimming, playing, and counting down the days until 7th grade. She had been training to win a boardwalk game where you see how long you can hold yourself up. She has always had incredible grip - doing 1-arm pull-ups from the monkey bars in our backyard. But this day she woke up with a pain that has now progressed to both feet.
She now has 20-30 flareups per day. Each one lasting from 4-45 minutes. The screaming and begging for help is terrifying. The pain is some times accompanied by “shocks”. Sometimes in one hand, sometimes both feet and sometimes throughout her whole body.
As you can imagine, the family has been trying everything to bring her body back to full function and health. Lily has been to the ED 3x, had a 10-day hospital stay, she has enrolled in traditional medicine, functional medicine and Chinese medicine. All labs continue to come back normal. Her EMG nerve study - normal. She has tried over the counter remedies, heavy medications (via Dr orders), topicals, herbs and not one thing has given her any bit of relief from her pain. Lily was discharged from the hospital with no diagnosis and no treatment plan, yet it continues to intensify and the time between flares continues to shorten.
She is so tired. And so hopeless. Lily is fading.
The ratio of pain to time without pain is now flipped. She can no longer walk or use her hands freely.
She is exhausted.
The family continues to be told "well, you've tried everything!" Yet, their daughter is literally screaming in agony every single day and night with no answers!
The family has already sustained loss of income due to having to care for Lily 24/7 for the last month. They are also looking at many out of state options for treatment and care which will not all be covered by insurance. This family needs our help, and Lily needs answers. I have personally been in this position as a mom of a suffering child, and the amount of money required to support my child and our family was phenomenal. Everything adds up quickly, and sharing of funds begins here!
Please help us get relief for Lily, and consider donating to this fund.
Thank you so much.
