"Hope is being able to see the light in all of the darkness"
At the end of January, our dear Macy went to urgent care to be seen for severe headaches and vomiting that she was experiencing. She received an MRI and her results showed a large cyst with a mass inside located in the right frontal lobe of her brain. The doctors and staff didn't know at the time what it was, but they knew it had to be removed, so Macy was taken to the hospital, admitted, and spent four days at Avera awaiting surgery for the removal of the mass. Her doctors were positive. Much of the cyst and the mass itself were removed, but she still had to wait a few weeks for pathology results to be back.
Unfortunately, these results delivered news none of us were expecting, but that all of us were dreading. What we were hopeful was a benign mass turned out to be a Glioblastoma. If you'd like to know more about this type of tumor and specific disease there are plenty of resources online, but for the sake of us all we prefer to not share them here. What we all need to know is that Macy has a very long, tedious, and painful battle ahead of her. It is full of unknowns and absent of guarantees. To minimize stress for Macy and her family we are asking for you to donate whatever you may be able to. Costs will go to cover both Macy's living expenses while she undergoes treatment and also some future medical bills that are undoubtedly coming. Macy is scheduled to start treatment late February/early March and will undergo a combination of radiation and chemotherapy.
Thank you to everyone who has helped raise money for this extraordinary human already, and for those who donate moving forward you have no idea how much it means.
Love,
Friends of Macy <3
