Relief for my family in Ukraine
Donation protected
Hello, my name is Iryna Gorb. I’m from Kharkiv, Ukraine. My whole family lives – lived there till February 24th. That Thursday in the early morning they were woken up by a bomb explosion. Russia started a war against my country.
Within a few minutes my parents and my sister had to get ready. They each packed a small backpack, rushed out, took the car from the garage, and drove out of the city. For the next 6 days they were hiding in a village between Kharkiv and Poltava, afraid to go outside, watching the news and staying in touch with neighbors and friends who stayed in Kharkiv.
At first my father refused to drive further west because he was convinced he’d go home soon, and was ready to join the army. He is 62 and has heart problems. Finally, on March 2nd my family decided to drive to Western Ukraine, it took them 3 days to get there. While they were on the road, they found out that their apartment building was shelled and their neighbors barely made it out alive. As of Friday, my family no longer has a home.
They left with barely any clothes or money. They lost everything they worked for all their lives, they can’t even access their savings. My parents were not retired, my father had a successful business in Kharkiv.
My family is my everything. My parents have always helped and supported me in any way they could. Now they’re in their 60’s and have to start from zero. I can’t even imagine how they feel.
My dear friends, I ask for your help, your generosity and your compassion. All the money will be sent directly to my family to be used for rent, food, medications (my Dad has high blood pressure and needs daily intake of medications), clothes and other immediate essentials.
I thank you all for your kindness!
