Relief for my friend, Alexandra Brooks (Alex)

Many of you know her already. If you don’t, I want you to know my friend Alex and her story. She is a successful Physician’s Assistant in the dermatology world, a mom of a precious 2-year-old boy (Brody) and one of my dearest friends.

Just over a week ago, Alex’s life turned upside down. She took herself to the hospital in the middle of the night last Monday (on her own two feet) because of extreme lower back pain. By that evening, she was paralyzed from the waist down. She was diagnosed with Transverse Myelitis. It’s been a frightening and challenging experience for her so far, but she has faith that she’ll get through this with a full recovery. Alex is one of the strongest people I know. I have no doubt that she’ll be able to tackle this.

The healing time/ process is unknown at this point. Alex is still waiting for test results to help explain the cause. The doctors and therapists will have a better understanding of how to help her once they know the why. It may take weeks or even months before she’s able to return to work and get back into the swing of things.
