Help for my MIL in the wake of Hurricane Ian

Hi friends,

As many of you know, my mother in law is a full time resident of the magnificent Sanibel Island which has been nearly completely demolished due to the hurricane. Thankfully she evacuated in time and was safe with her sister about an hour away.

They are estimating the island won’t be habitable until next year (at least) and there’s no word yet on when the residents can go back to see if anything is left of their home or belongings. My heart is broken for her and the residents of the island.

We have no idea when we’ll be allowed to go down and help but are chomping at the bit. We feel so helpless. I’ve started this fundraiser to try to ease the financial burden, at least, so she can get settled in her new place while she navigates the whirlwind of emotions & financial strain she has ahead of her.
