Relief for Nashville Musicians
Donation protected
Jonny Gower here, Nashville native and local musician. As we all step into this uncertain new environment, I'd like to provide some relief for those financially affected by the pandemic.
In an effort to mitigate the spread of COVID 19, the city of Nashville has officially decided to close the city's live music venues. While these preventative measures are necessary to stop the spread of the virus, the musicians of Nashville now find themselves in an extremely precarious financial situation, as many are dependent upon these venues for their livelihood.
With that in mind, I'm starting a Go Fund Me to help ease the financial burdens of some of the city's performers. I myself am a performer, and employ up to twenty freelance musicians. Before the outbreak, we performed five nights a week downtown; now, we are without income. The funds collected will be used to cover any basic living costs - rent, bills, groceries, etc. - that myself and these local musicians find unmanageable during this time of uncertainty.
I will personally see that these funds are used to support the small music community I have worked to build over the past ten years. I am in direct and regular contact with my employees, and will personally deliver funds to those of them in need via Paypal or Venmo.
If you're able, please consider donating what you can to our live performers. This is your opportunity to support the artists and entertainers who've made Nashville a destination for music-lovers around the world. Your contributions will help ensure that those who've dedicated their lives to the performing arts are taken care of during this brief suspension of their careers.
All donations will be received with the utmost gratitude and humility by the performing arts community of Nashville. With your help, we'll be able to manage this unprecedented crisis, and come through without too much trouble.
