Relief for Tyler Hoffman's family

Donation protected
I'm fundraising for my friend, Christy York, and her family.

Christy's older son, Tyler Hoffman (age 20), was seriously injured in a car accident on Dec. 29, 2021 when a truck hit his vehicle head on. He was visiting friends in his home town of Waunakee, WI, where he played hockey and graduated from high school.

Christy traveled in the middle of the night from Indiana to be with Tyler. She is staying at a hotel near the hospital to be close to Tyler. Her younger son, Luke (18), is staying with family friends in Waunakee. Due to covid policies, Christy and Luke cannot be with Tyler, which is compounding their grief. They can only see Tyler through a video camera placed in his room. Christy says the surgeon and hospital staff have been amazing. They are playing Tyler's favorite music and have hockey games running in the background. In the first 1.5 days following the accident, Tyler  endured two brain surgeries. He is medically sedated for the next 5 days. He will undoubtedly have additional surgeries in his future.

Besides asking for your prayers, the best way I can think of to help this family is to start this special fund in an effort to help ease the unexpected financial burdens they will be faced with in the future. Thank you for your prayers, love and support!

Update from Christy on 12/31/2021:

I am overwhelmed by the love, support and prayers that my family is receiving from all over the world. Tyler is truly an amazing young man, who has touched so many. His hockey brothers at Purdue have become extended family. He is on the National Honor Society at Purdue Northwest as well. He is majoring in Criminal Justice so he can follow his love of the outdoors and fishing can work with the Department of Natural Resources. Today we start what the doctors said could be the worst day after the accident. Swelling and bruising could peak. They are closely monitoring his inter cranial pressure and watching from seizures. We should have results from the 24 hour eeg that looks for seizures later on today. He is responding to pain but not commands, but that could be due to the heavy sedation. I still have only been able to see him via web cam due Covid and they say that he could remain in quarantine for 21 days. Tears! Please continue to pray for Tyler. He is in God's hands .
