Relief from Typhoon Odette from Roxas, Palawan

Our family in Roxas Palawan has been hit incredibly hard by Super Typhoon Odette. After three days of worry, we've only just been able to get in touch with family after the cell tower collapsed, and everyone is safe, thank God.

Family and friends are dealing with no electricity, a lack of clean drinking water, food prices that are doubling in the local markets, and significant damage to roads and homes that will take years to repair.  

Wing and I are raising money to send to family and the larger community in Roxas.  Funds will go towards: 

- Two solar generators, one for the family in town and one for the family in rural areas. Community members will be allowed to use the generator to charge phones and other key devices free of charge. 

- Food, for family and gift packages of rice and canned goods for community members in need.  

- Building materials, to replace roofs and other damaged housing for family and most heavily impacted and least resourced neighbors. 

With this happening right before Christmas, it's brought into focus for me despite all the difficulty we've faced in the last few years, how blessed many of us are to have a roof over our head, clean water to drink, and access to affordable food. Seeing family in this situation has reminded me that the true meaning and joy of Christmas is in giving openly to others and welcoming those in need into our hearts.
