THANK YOU! YOU ARE STILL WELCOME TO MAKE A DONATION, BUT AT THIS TIME I AM NOT ACTIVELY REQUESTING THEM.
Cosmic Cat Comics has been a Tallahassee Florida landmark for roughly 33 years. I moved the store from Virginia to Tallahassee all those years ago. Over the years through many hurricanes and the opening and closing of a long list of other comic bookstores trying to lure my customers, this store as survived. Sadly, who would ever think that a virus, coronavirus, COVID-19 would actually do so much destruction to so many people, in such a short time.
Cosmic Cat would like to continue as a actual walk in brick and mortar store. I have a family of comic book collectors and readers who have been customers since the beginning and then some just for a few months. Problem is, the store has never really made much money, if any. I always joked with my employees that they made much more than me and that if I worked at McDonalds I would be much better off. Bottom line, the store does not have savings and since the retail store is all but closed, there is little money to cover expenses. I pretty much have enough money to stay where I am for one more month, thanks to internet sales, but beyond that it is one big question mark. The store is especially in peril since all comic book publishers have ceased publication.
What I am asking help for is rent, utilities and paying the minimum on some charge cards. Our landlord is giving a small percentage off, but no amount that would keep us here over an extended amount of time. I still have basic utilities such as internet and phone that need to be paid. Lastly a 30+ year old store, does have various debts that need to be paid. Currently, I am working my way through the various programs that may help the store with small emergency grants. Some I qualify for, many I don't.
I appreciate any help you may give.
Thank you
