Relief fund for Gil after flooded home

Hi, my name is Naiara and I’m starting a fundraiser for my father who was flooded out of his home.

He moved in only one month ago with all his belongings to start a new small business (homemade ice cream to sell with a bicycle) and invested all his efforts and savings into that project.

The city (Santa Cruz Cabralia, Bahia, Brazil), and in particular his neighborhood, saw a massive flood due to a never seen rain storm with precipitation of over 400mm in only one night.

In the early mornings of the 21st of April, after a night-long of heavy rainfall, his home was already flooded to an extent and while trying to save some belongings by putting them higher on the shelves the water rose further. Around 7 o'clock, when the water level reached his breast, he decided to leave everything behind and search for a safer place. He and others found shelter on the second floor of a neighboring house and were finally evacuated many hours later.

The full extent of the damage is still unknown as the neighborhood is still underwater. But because the water level raised higher than 1.7m in the house, and for a prolonged period, there is actually not much hope to recover many belongings.

As one can imagine, this is an incredibly difficult time for him, and it's very difficult to cope with the sudden loss of his home and personal possessions.

The goal at the moment is to raise €2,500 as a relief fund for temporary housing and replacement of the most essentials.
