Relief Fund for Josh Deleon
Donation protected
On September 17th, 2022, Josh Deleon of Houston, Tx, was fired by Starbucks after being with the company for what would have been nine years this upcoming November. Josh has contributed significantly to the unionization process at his store in Houston, which is the first store in Houston to go public with its intent to unionize and successfully do so on Thursday, September 22, 2022.
Over the past few months since the store went public with its intent to hold an election, Josh and others at the store have faced immense pressure from management to vote “No” to unionizing. Over the past year, visits from upper management were minimal but have become much more frequent, creating an uncomfortable environment for all workers in the store who feel as if they are unfairly and overly policed.
This fund for Josh would help him pay for essentials like rent, groceries, gas, dog food, etc., since Starbucks terminated him in a manner that does not allow him to receive unemployment. Josh is attending ASU through Starbucks and would like to continue his education at Houston Community College in the meantime. Donations would help him continue the education that he had already started while working for Starbucks.
Like many other Starbucks workers fired due to their union organizing activity, Josh has fallen victim to the cruel, evolving union-busting tactics that Starbucks has been acting out across the nation.
