Support Lebanon's No-Kill Dog Shelter Woof N' Wags

Donation protected
This GoFundMe fundraiser is raising money to provide dogfood, lifesaving surgeries and veterinary care for injured stray and abandoned dogs rescued by no-kill, volunteer-run dog shelter Woof N’ Wags in poverty-stricken Lebanon. Woof N' Wags is currently caught in the crossfires of the Middle East war: it is located in South Lebanon, a warzone experiencing daily bombing.

The stray dog situation in Lebanon

Lebanon is enduring a severe prolonged economic depression, one of the worst in modern history. Over eighty percent of the population is living below the poverty linecompounding indifference to animal suffering. Amidst massive inflation, veterinary costs have skyrocketed. Pet abandonment and stray dog shooting are at an all-time high, often done by municipalities themselves.

Lebanon's no-kill dog shelter: Woof N' Wags

The money raised from this fundraiser will support homeless dogs (including puppies and senior dogs) rescued from unbelievable suffering: from being left alone on the street to cope with the aftermath of being beaten, poisoned, shot, hit by a car, or burned by acid, not knowing where to go and how to stop the pain — with no hope for relief in sight, until Woof N’ Wags rescue team showed up.

Woof N’ Wags, since its rescue effort launch in 2017, has saved 250+ stray dogs in conditions exactly as described above, who would have otherwise faced prolonged suffering, humiliation and death. The group's rescue dogs include blind, amputee, and hit-and-run survivors.

As documented on Facebook and YouTube  , Woof N’ Wags has ventured where other rescue groups have not: saving dogs in the most remote villages of Lebanon, near Lebanon's war-torn southern and northern borders, where hostility and bias against dogs is extreme and apathy in the face of animal suffering is widespread among the population.

Woof N' Wags rescue dogs need your support today

The stray dog horror scene in Lebanon is an everyday reality, to the extent that when Woof N’ Wags responds to an injured stray dog alert in a given town, to ask the alert provider about the dog’s condition, the answer is often: "Which one of them? Many dogs are lying around here shot and bleeding." And when the question of how to contact the owner is raised, it often turns out the owners themselves have shot their dogs or abused them in dogfighting and other modes of exploitation.

Ever since this fundraiser was launched in October 2021, Woof N' Wags' veterinary bills have been piling up, since the shelter remained open while other local shelters shut their doors and started euthanizing dogs. Woof N' Wags deeply believes in its no-kill mission: "We promise every animal we rescue that they never have to experience fear, pain, or humiliation ever again. Please help us keep that promise by donating today. Let’s put our hands (and paws!) together and be the animal-friendly Lebanon we wish to see." Woof N' Wags also believes in the global animal lover community's commitment to making this mission possible.

Without your support, Woof N' Wags' mission grinds to a halt: due to outstanding current invoices at several veterinary clinics incurred by recent rescues as shown below, our rescue dogs no longer have access to veterinary care, including spaying/neutering and vaccination. Please help Woof N' Wags heal stray and abused rescue dogs by supporting this fundraiser today. Woof N' Wags, founded by two volunteers (Ghada and Joe), relies on donations to sustain its work.
