UPDATE:
WE HIT OUR GOAL IN LESS THAN A DAY!!!!
I cannot thank each and every one of you enough. This is one of the best days I’ve ever had. You have saved my little cat, and I love you all for it. I will keep posting updates on his TikTok as he gets ready for and recovers from his surgery if you would like to follow his story. Thank you all again, so much.

Hi, my name is Abby. About a year ago a little ginger cat began showing up in my backyard. He was skinny, wasn’t neutered, and covered in mats from being an outside long haired cat. He was the sweetest little cat I’d ever met in my life, so after a month of feeding him and gaining his trust I took him to the shelter in the hopes he’d find an amazing home. The shelter asked where exactly he was found, because it was their policy to neuter and release feral cats, and clip their left ear so other shelters would always be able to identify him as a fixed feral cat. Sure enough he turned up right back in my yard fixed with half an ear, making him un-adoptable at most shelters, so I kept him. I named him Ginger after his fur and he became my first cat. I’m a college student but I qualify for an ESA so he was able to live a better life in my dorm with me and my roommates Kaylee and Olivia. That is until we took him to the vet for his very first physical. When the vet tried to open his mouth to look at his teeth he screamed and clawed at her arms. When she released him he ran back to me and hid behind me. I apologized profusely because he’d never acted like that before. She then told me the bad news. Ginger has severe stomatitis, an autoimmune response to the plaque on his own teeth. His gums are red and inflamed, he has lesions on his lips, tongue, and all the way down his throat. Eating, swallowing, and even just existing causes him extreme pain. She quoted me at $2,000 for blood work and surgery to remove all of his teeth. This procedure effectively cures 90%+ of stomatitis cats, and he would be able to live pain free. As a college student with only a part time job I couldn’t afford this, but I decided to put him on gabapentin (pain medication) until I could save up. However, between his medication, his very expensive grain free food, his litter, gasoline, and my college fees, I don’t have any money to save. It’s been 9 months, and Ginger’s condition has worsened. He drools constantly, sleeps 95% of the day away, refuses to eat, and is losing weight. He is rapidly declining and I am desperate to save him. I’m terrified I will have to euthanize him in the near future if I don’t find a solution. I have tried dozens of nonprofits but I can’t find one that assists with dental procedures, I have applied for care credit but I don’t qualify, I even entertained the idea of setting up a yard sale but I don’t have much to sell. If you have just a dollar to spare to help me save his life I will be eternally grateful. If not, I would be equally as grateful if you could maybe send the link to someone who does? If you read all this, thank you, Gingy and I hope you have an amazing day.
