Relieve medical expenses for the Begay family

On behalf of the Begay family, Nina's 3rd-grade teaching team would like to share the family's needs. Recently, Nina was diagnosed with papillary thyroid cancer. She will have surgery this month and begin the remainder of her treatment about two months after the surgery. After the surgery, this teacher will not be allowed to speak while she is healing and cannot work. Nina has no personal or sick leave left and will have to be out without pay.

In addition to teaching, Nina is a wife and mom. She advocates and cares for her teenage daughter undergoing treatment and a medical trial for her epilepsy. Nizhoni has had four surgeries, the latest on August 8th, and since then, many hospital stays each time her cluster seizures aren't stopped with her rescue medications. In addition, she has to be seen every three months to have the RNS settings adjusted.

In August, when other teachers were donating one personal day to be part of the "Sick Leave Bank," Nina had already used all of hers and could not join the district-wide group. She gives so much of herself to her family, friends, and students that we want to help support her in the most significant way possible. We appreciate your support for this wonderful family.
