Relight the Sign - Downtown Cowtown at the Isis
Donation protected
This venue was 'For Sale' for many years, becoming more neglected and dilapidated as time passed since 1988. The site was purchased by myself, Dr. Jeffrey Smith, and my wife Debbie Garrett-Smith. We preserved any salvageable pieces, including the "New Isis" sign on the building facade. The doors finally reopened in the summer 2021. 2017 would be the kick-off year for the comprehensive outside/inside renovations and restoration.
The process of bringing this Texas treasure back to life has been challenging but worth the reward of seeing this theatre restored and bringing entertainment to Fort Worth once again. As the Historic Fort Worth Stockyards start to adapt to the changing times, we want to preserve this theatre for the next generation of visitors to Fort Worth.
One major piece remains unaddressed, and we want fans of vintage theatres far and wide to be part of bringing this location fully back to its original glory. We want people from all parts of Texas and this nation to be the power behind reilluminating this historic beacon in the Stockyards. We want every future photo of this iconic sign in news stories, Instagrams, or national commercials to symbolize people from all walks of life who love the performing arts and classic movies and the magic of being entertained TOGETHER no matter who you are! The theatre welcomes all!
We ask everyone to help us "Relight the Sign," which has been part of the Stockyard skyline since 1936!
