Urgent Appeal - Relocation Support

Urgent appeal for assistance from the local community and beyond. Due to the loss of the farm we leased for over a decade, our registered charity that is a care haven for horses, donkeys and vulnerable people is having to start again and we need your help.

French's have found land that will be our charities new base, the grass land has nothing on it, so we are having to start from scratch and we desperately need financial assistance to contribute to the costs of shelters for the animals and outbuildings for our equipment/storage of hay and straw.

The animals in our care are mostly elderly and like elderly people some have health issues, they need to have shelter from all weather conditions.
Donkeys especially do not possess a waterproof coat unlike horses, they must have somewhere undercover, so that they can get out of the rain if needed.

Not only does our Haven provide care to our animals, but also to the young people that visit us and volunteer. We have developed programs to help local young people and for those who struggle with mental health as well as anxiety and social skills. We also run a project called 'springboard back to work' to help those who suffer such difficulties, gain the confidence and work experience they need, which will enable them to find employment. French's Care Haven provides a safe place to connect with the land and the animals. Over the years we have been instrumental in re-integrating participants back into education, employment and society, by offering skill development to improve physical and mental well-being.

The cost of running our care haven takes every penny we receive in donations and more for the daily upkeep: Paying for feeds, hay, vet bills, farrier, bedding. fencing and maintenance, the list goes on. As the daily costs take the money we have come in, there are no monies left over for us to start again, which is what we are having to do now with the fencing outbuildings and equipment we need.

French's Care Haven needs your help. Note: Every penny we raise goes directly to the care of our animals and maintaining the land that is their home.

Handsome Boris with Coral, getting some much-needed love and care

Smuggler when he came to us, was severely malnourished

Smuggler as a much happier boy, more of an old boy as he is over 30! His care plan involves regular feeding throughout the day, due to not having any grinding teeth. While he enjoys grazing, he isn't able to take in all the nutrients that he needs, so he is closely monitored and fed a high calorie weight gain diet.

Frankie, the biggest of our four donkeys, looking like such a sad boy, Will you be able to help us and his three brothers?

Costa and Frankie, two of our donkeys enjoying some playtime

Minstrel's feet when he came to us. Overgrown and deformed, he was crippled and unable to walk

Minstrel now, looking much happier and healthier after many visits from the Farrier and receiving lots of love and attention from our volunteers

This is a before photo of Whiff, a starved and neglected gelding that was treated by Jann

Whiff in fantastic condition after some intensive care and treatments. All part of the work we try and offer

One of our beautiful mares, 17 year old Maddie, enjoying the sunshine. She has some health issues and suffers with internal and external tumours that we are managing. This doesn't stop her from living her life to the full; we are taking care of her and monitoring her condition.
